What We Do
Established in 1995, Mallee Grill has stood the test of time for well over 20 years. The open grill showcases our unique cooking style over a wood fired grill. Our speciality is hand selected and aged Tasmanian grass fed beef. We also offer quality seafood, chicken, pork and another house speciality, our sausages, which we make in our kitchen. Our extensive salad bar offers over 12 different types of fresh tasty salads inclusive with a main course purchase. Our service is quick and efficient and our aim is to make your visit with us an enjoyable one. If for any reason you are not happy, tell us and we will endeavour to fix any issue you may have.
We source our produce locally from Tasmanian suppliers and producers. We pride ourselves on the meticulous care taken in the sourcing and preparation of our food in order to provide you with the best product available. Everything possible is made in our kitchens from our sauces, mayonnaise and dressings to our signature sausages. The majority of our main courses are offered at two sizes and our cuts of steak at three different sizes giving you the option to satisfy either your hunger or your budget.

Mallee Grill uses a natural wood-fired grill in our signature style of cooking. The name Mallee is derived from the Mallee Root charcoal which fuels our grill. Our grill design is based around one of the oldest forms of cooking . A steel grill on a fire pit. Because our grill is an old fashion style of cooking, you will see us using old flat irons, hair dryers and fans to assist this beautiful old thing to work. The result though is legendary. The charcoal imparts a wonderful smoky food flavour unique to this style of cooking.
Flame Grilled Speciality
We only take bookings for larger groups. (6 People or more) This gives Mallee Grill the ability never to be booked out for smaller groups. If a table isn't available when you arrive, we have a comfortable lounge area where you can wait for your table. Relax and have a drink. Table turn around is usually 10-15 minutes. For larger groups we can cater for up to 35 people. Not all on the one table but definitely in the same area. Large groups have to be booked.
